Take a Stand for Deaf Babies and Children
An Advocate for Bilingual-Bicultural Philosophy
I have been an advocate for Bicultural-Bilingual for almost 20 years and founded a deaf school with Bi-Bi philosophy.  I love to help and educate people about this philosophy, which is a wonderful blessing among the deaf people.

Go International
Start an International Coalition and unite.. We should seek protection worldwide, all countries, each of their deaf minority groups of cultural/linguistic identities and ours.. United Nations should protect all deaf minority groups, and the United States should too for ours, and its urgent!

if Exposed Earlier, He Would Be More Fluent..
I agree that deaf children should be taught sign language at an early age. My son is deaf. He lost his hearing at 1 1/2 years. He attended the school in our area for 6 years, but they taught S.E.E. We relocated and he is now learning ASL. If he had been exposed earlier, he would be more fluent.

It's an Adventure for the Whole Family
Communication is so important to a child. Take a night class, rent a video from the library, learn to talk to your child.  Give them the tools to say I love you and thank you mom and dad for learning to sign. Deafness is not a disability it\'s an adventure for the whole family.

...Proud that I am bilingual
My father is oral deaf, my mother culturally deaf. I am deaf, can hear some, speak like German.  I am proud that I am bilingual.  Part of my job-working with parents of deaf infants, at times "whispering" ASL into them. "You know your child can be a bilingual." A battle worth fighting for.
