The Natural Language for a Deaf Child is ASL
I wholeheartedly agree with this petition. Deaf children need equal rights when it comes to language acquisition. The best way to obtain language is through a natural means and for a Deaf child, that is ASL.
Many thanks!

Communication - A Critical Skill
|
I think this advocating for a birthright of every deaf infant & child is very critical communication skill by ASL. ASL is so beautiful & inspirational as to some creative effort even intelligent. A sense feels advance education to the communication skill as the hearing equally.

Deaf Adults, Products of Oral Education Know Oralism is a Failed Approach
|
The majority of Deaf adults were the students of oral education all through, or at some points, childhood education. We have the first hand witness of what were lacking and deprivation of optimal learning and development experience. ASL is the vital core of language acquisition in the very beginning.

Authentic Language
|
I am a hearing person; but, I have studied ASL under the guidance of the Deaf Community. I have learned much about the language and the culture. I also have a Minor in Linguistics and have seen that ASL is an authentic language, possessing qualities in grammar that other languages exhibit.
