ISN'T IT TIME TO STAND UP FOR WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN?...
AN IMPORTANT BLOG ON CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE

Audism Free America

heye all

i have a long blog entry up examining some of the events at AFA's rallies in DC this summer

i have come to realize how little folks know of civil disobedience and how infinitely important it is for us to begin to utilize and employ it

if u think its of any worth - feel free to circulate the blog. if u feel the blog is too confusing cuz of all the context and my "style" (yes i know that is a generous term here) but u see some truths in it - pls do find suitable stuff to start circulating re: civil disobedience

it can even be links to how daryl hannah got arrested recently for protesting in front of the white house re: fossil fuels (u can only walk back and forth in front of the white house - if u stay put for an extended period of time and will not move once told they can arrest ya due to "security issues" so more and more folks have been doing so in front of the white house - latests batches to get arrested that i have read about are: peace activists (to end the wars), Keystone XLpipeline opponents, environmentalists, etc

seems to me the Deaf community is paralyzed by FEAR and this may be the biggest thing that has ever disabled us - more than audists, more than the systems, more than anything

“Deep down in our non-violent creed is the conviction there are some things so dear, some things so precious, some things so eternally true, that they're worth dying for. And if a man happens to be 36-years-old, as I happen to be, some great truth stands before the door of his life--some great opportunity to stand up for that which is right.
A man might be afraid his home will get bombed, or he's afraid that he will lose his job, or he's afraid that he will get shot, or beat down by state troopers, and he may go on and live until he's 80. He's just as dead at 36 as he would be at 80, and the cessation of breathing in his life is merely the belated announcement of an earlier death of the spirit. He died... A man dies when he refuses to stand up for that which is right. A man dies when he refuses to stand up for justice. A man dies when he refuses to take a stand for that which is true.
So we're going to stand up amid horses. We're going to stand up right here in Alabama, amid the billy-clubs. We're going to stand up right here in Alabama amid police dogs, if they have them. We're going to stand up amid tear gas! We're going to stand up amid anything they can muster up, letting the world know that we are determined to be free!”

we truly have nothing at all to fear - except for a death of the spirit

its nutty as we have not faced the threats that others have but i think that aids the complacency, the apathy, and also the fact that faking it and the death of the spirit being beaten into us at an early age via the audiology lab and "failing" contributed OODLES to this

pls join me in this wake up call - in any way u see fit

again if u no likey some of the stuff there - just pls try to find something u do like re: civil disobedience and social justice and get it out there. folks need to be fed hope, love and truth. we gotta have faith in ourselves that we and the kiddies are WORTH this fight
