Sign Language Can Help Children with Auditory Processing Disorder (APD)

A recent article by Robin Hansen in the Examiner newspaper explains how a parent was given poor advice relating to how to best provide language stimulus to her child who has Auditory Processing Disorder (APD). Ms. Hansen provides a lengthy response from an audiologist (Laura Polich) who is supportive of the use of sign language for children with APD. She debunks the "children are inherently lazy" myth and explains that signing is crucial in promoting general language development skills for these children.
